“Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, put on heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience” – Colossians 3:12 (HCSB)
Brethren, we are expected to carry many critical attributes with us daily to church, work, the marketplace, and everywhere our feet tread. One of these is demonstrating empathy to reach the hearts and lives of those who might have a void in their lives or are facing difficulties and are truly crying out for love, warmth, and comfort.
How we treat people, and the quality of our relationships with them are good determinants of our Christian life. As God’s chosen ones, we must always walk in humility, showing great care and concern for those we socialise with. We should not become impatient or display resentment for those who may have fallen short of God’s standard. Instead, we should be kind and assist in leading them back into His kingdom.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (KJV) says, “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulations, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” It is our job to comfort others, especially those who have fallen astray. Let’s continue to serve with that act of kindness, which always goes a long way and allows us to win the hearts of others.
Friends, today, embrace Galatians 6:10: “…as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” But I implore you, don’t just stop there; like the good Samaritan, I encourage you to meet the unsaved, too.
God’s grace and blessings. Continue to serve with humility.
